Meta Housing Is First To Open Senior Housing Community With On-Site Professional Theatre

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA - History is being made in the multifamily industry as Meta Housing Corporation opens its newly developed $32 million, 126-unit NoHo Senior Arts Colony this month.  This new, 204,039 square-foot senior apartment community which caters to artists and promotes the arts is the first in the nation to open in concert with a professional on-site theatre.

In addition to the theatre, the new community, which features one- and two-bedroom floor plans and is located in North Hollywood, Calif., will offer visual arts and film editing studios, free educational arts classes and an environment that promotes the arts at every turn.

“As a leader in the field and a developer of senior housing since 1969, we are drawing upon our years of experience to build senior apartments projects which offer so much more than just a quality place to live.  This new community will provide opportunities that are life-changing,” explains John Huskey, President of the community developer Meta Housing Corporation.

Huskey notes that Meta Housing Corporation is inviting artists, and those who wish to be involved in or surrounded by the arts, to come and live in a community in which they will increase their artistic abilities and opportunities, as well as being surrounded by like-minded, arts-focused neighbors.

Meta Housing Corporation is partnering with the Road Theatre Company in this project, according to Huskey.

“We believe this to be the first on-site professional theatre in a senior apartment community anywhere,” he says.  “The Road’s award-winning theatre and commitment to the arts will really make this community special.”

In addition, Meta Housing Corporation is collaborating with EngAGE, a non-profit organization that will provide an integrated program of arts and wellness classes taught by college-level professionals, and offered at no charge to residents of the new community.

Tim Carpenter, the founder and executive director of EngAGE, says that the organization changes aging and the way people think about aging by transforming senior apartment communities into vibrant centers of learning, wellness, and creativity.

“Our mission is to increase the physical and mental health of people as they age through active involvement in the arts,” notes Carpenter, who is also a board member of the National Center for Creative Aging.  “At NoHo Senior Arts Colony, EngAGE will offer programming that focuses on the combination of mind, body and spirit to promote active engagement and independent living, and to provide seniors with a purpose in life.”

North Hollywood Provides the Right Backdrop for New Arts Community
The location of the new apartment community, which is open to seniors age 62 and above, was quite purposeful, according to Huskey.

“North Hollywood is already a strong arts community in its own right,” Huskey explains.  “Our residents can walk or drive to an art supply store, acting classes, an independent movie theater, art galleries, dance classes and performances, as well as restaurants and shopping.”

“NoHo Senior Arts Colony will become part of the fabric of this arts-focused area, and will add to it both through our public performance theatre, and our residents,” Huskey adds.

In addition to the theatre, EngAGE classes and Road programming, NoHo Senior Arts Colony features on-site amenities such as a visual arts studio, a digital arts studio, a modern fitness studio, an eco-meditation garden, a large terrace for social gatherings, a computer/business center and a heated swimming pool.

Because the community is specifically designed for those involved in or interested in the arts, Huskey notes that there are strong details built into the apartments, including a conscious use of natural lighting and luxury finishes.  Outside, the same attention to detail is apparent in the gardens, on the terrace and in the large creative studios.

The residences include one- and two-bedroom floor plans, with granite countertops, in-home washer and dryer, modern kitchen appliances, and a private balcony or patio.

“In many apartment communities, we see people who just live inside their own spaces and don’t really interact with their neighbors,” Huskey says.  “But at the NoHo Senior Arts Colony, we have created a true community, where coming home might involve a yoga class, rehearsal, or complimentary tickets to a preview of a new award-winning show by the Road Theatre Company in the theatre downstairs.”

The NoHo Senior Arts Colony is located at 10747 Magnolia Boulevard in North Hollywood, California.  Leasing information is available at (855) 399-5381.  Further information on the project is at www.NoHoSeniorArtsColony.com.

Professional property management will be provided by Legacy Partners Residential.  Legacy has been managing multifamily communities since 1968.  Legacy has successfully managed Meta properties for more than eight years and promotes and directs its “Customer Care” philosophy.
