A 3 year old building's roof deck in Brentwood (Los Angeles) CA leaked soon after the building was turned over to the owners and being occupied. Tenants on the floor below the roof deck suffered from water intrusion into expensive apartments and water caused serious damage to the interior finishes and belongings.
Central Coast Waterproofing, under General Contractor Cal Building and Maintenance, installed a Desert Crete traffic coating from Hill Brothers Chemical Company's Desert Brand Decking & Flooring Division.
Before the Desert Crete could be installed, 6 tons of tiled deck, underlayment and defective waterproofing had to be removed first. Cal Building performed the demolition of the old decking.
Central Coast Waterproofing installed new flashings around the deck to wall perimeter, installed sloping materials to direct water to the drains and then installed 3500 square feet of Desert Crete decking on the roofs substrate.
Desert Crete is a Class A/One Hour fire resistant traffic coating, approved by the LA Fire Marshall's office.
The deck waterproofing was performed first, and shortly after, the weather in December 2010 provided water testing that proved the Desert Crete systems worth when no leaks were reported for the first time in 3 years since the buildings completion.
After the deck was dried in, Central Coast Waterproofing then laid out a tile pattern and stamped the deck. The stamped finish was then stained with Super-Krete stains to mimic the color of the tiles that were removed.
Central Coast Waterproofing provides Apartment communities, condo's and hotels/motels with comprehensive solutions to their roof and deck water intrusion issues.
